The Next Generation

 It’s been 30 years since the launch of the original duo of Pokémon games in Japan. After over 1000 collectible monsters and dozens of games later, the series is all set to start its tenth generation. Announced at the annual Pokémon Presents showcase earlier this February, we got a glimpse at the new tropical region, the trainers we’ll embody to explore it, and the trio of new starters that will accompany us.

The reveal trailer starts from a first-person perspective, showing someone flip through an old sketchbook filled with art dedicated to the past generations of games. Eventually, there’s a knock at the door, and they open it to reveal… two Pikachus in vacation attire? We’ve since learned that the two are known as Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, though the official Pokémon website says the developers aren’t ready to share the roles of these new characters just yet.
