The Chicken Kicker Finally Returns

Developer Playground Games is primarily known for the Forza Horizon series, but it has landed the unenviable task of reviving the Fable franchise, which has basically been dormant since the release of Fable: The Journey for Kinect in 2012. Playground has been quiet about its development, which was teased as early as 2017, but we finally got a look at how this new Fable will play, how it recalls the original games, and what will hopefully set it apart.

As was the case with the previous mainline Fable games, you start the adventure as a child before learning you are a rare hero, the first in a long time. A calamity affects your home village of Briar Hill, and then you’re off on your heroic adventure. Apparently, the open world will be available to the player early in the game, and you will find yourself stuck between two rival gangs fighting for power.

Expected elements, such as how combat looks, appear to be in line with the original games: simplified action that lets you split your focus between melee, long-range, and magic at your discretion; familiar enemies like Hobs are back; and we also saw a hero fighting a giant fire-breathing chicken, payback presumably for all the ones we kicked back in 2004.
