Catching A Train
As the co-founder of Vlambeer, Rami Ismail is known for putting unique twists on preexisting genres in games like Ridiculous Fishing and Nuclear Throne. Now, after a long hiatus from game development, which he used to help small indie developers get their games off the ground, Ismail is back with another extraordinarily promising genre-twisting title named Australia Did It.
In Australia Did It, players control an ever-changing party as they go from train station to train station, defending each platform as various hostile creatures encroach on their position. As the player, you use the game’s turn-based strategy conventions to summon different archetypal characters, position them around the perimeter of the station, and then attack once you end your turn. Each archetype has different stats and perks – the Radshot inflicts radiation damage; the Gunslinger is more about damage; and the Nomad can knock back incoming enemies with a shotgun blast.
