The Blood of Dawnwalker – Baring Its Fangs

A new studio overflowing with experience crafting some of the most beloved action/RPGs of all time looks to leave its mark with The Blood of Dawnwalker

Certain titles carry astounding weight in the video game space. These legendary games – titles like Elden Ring, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and The Last of Us – stand out as some of the greatest video games of not only the 21st century, but in the history of video games. Konrad Tomaszkiewicz is no stranger to games in this conversation, working on several titles at the iconic Polish developer CD Projekt Red. He wrapped up his time at that studio by directing two games that stand shoulder-to-shoulder with those aforementioned titans in the space: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.

Now, after more than a decade and a half at perhaps the most famous Polish game developer, Tomaszkiewicz set out on his own to create a new IP as a new studio. Joined by several other industry veterans from both CD Projekt Red and other triple-A teams, his new studio, Rebel Wolves, set out to create an incredibly ambitious action/RPG that promises unrivaled levels of player agency, a compelling time-management mechanic, an engaging directional combat system, an impactful day/night cycle, and exciting nonlinear quest design. We traveled to Rebel Wolves’ studio in Warsaw, Poland, to see just how true these promises are, and emerged in awe of not only what The Blood of Dawnwalker hopes to accomplish, but how, at least in the early hours, it appears to pull it off.
