We spoke to the co-founders of the studio creating Grave Seasons, an unholy fusion between a farming sim and a grisly supernatural murder mystery
One of the most heartwarming parts of playing a life sim is growing close to your NPC neighbors. Whether you’re giving gifts in Animal Crossing or getting married in Stardew Valley, it’s a genre that celebrates relationships and closeness.
But what if, the day after you professed your admiration to one of these characters, you found out they were a serial killer? Or worse, that they had been horrifically murdered by one?
“I think that horror works best when you have something to be afraid for, and in Grave Seasons, we want to really embrace the coziness as fuel for the horror and vice versa,” Emmet Nahil, co-founder of developer Perfect Garbage, tells me.
