How Do You Take Your Multiplayer?
How do you like to play with friends for multiplayer games? Do you prefer local multiplayer (four controllers to a console), online multiplayer, or LAN? – TuscanSotavia BlueSky
It’s hard to argue that anything can top the feeling of four players gathering around a single screen, each with a controller in hand. The energy is just different. We know some of our favorite memories in grade school involved three friends with GoldenEye on N64 or Halo on original Xbox. But as we’ve gotten older (and busier) and technology has improved, online has become our go-to way to experience multiplayer, thanks largely to the convenience factor; it’s way harder to coordinate with multiple friends to pull off an in-person gaming session than simply inviting them into a party on Xbox Live, PSN, or Discord. It’s also much more common that modern games only support or, at the very least, prioritize online multiplayer. In addition, it’s pretty great having the full screen to yourself. Still, on occasion, we love booting up Mario Kart, Rock Band, or Overcooked for some local-multiplayer madness.
