A Space Of Its Own
When you hear there’s a new triple-A science-fiction shooter on the horizon, you likely immediately think of hulking, unstoppable space marines blasting hordes of aliens into oblivion. When legendary developer and publisher Capcom decided to create its own twist in the genre, it knew it couldn’t follow the same conventions as those that came before it, so it drilled down to where it could innovate while still retaining many of the core tenets so many love about the genre.
The result is Pragmata, an exciting space shooter with a built-in puzzle mechanic that not only flips the sci-fi shooter’s pacing and core gameplay on its head, but also includes a relatable hero and an AI companion in the shape of a young girl to subvert expectations. We sat down with the team at Capcom to learn more about how it landed on this anticipated interpretation of the sci-fi shooter.
